Since we built our company in the early 1990’s, our approach has been to fully understand the manufacturing processes of our clients and develop system architectures that best fit the application.
In those days, control system implementations for rolling mill technologies required custom “black-box” designs to meet the computational performance requirements of such complex applications. Yet the world of industrial control equipment technology was advancing rapidly and these engineers recognized the benefits of moving away from custom/proprietary platforms. Hence, they launched a movement toward leveraging commercially available, “off the shelf” control equipment for the full spectrum of applications. With a clear objective to implement sophisticated technologies through proper integration of widely available distributed control system platforms, Integrated Mill Systems (IMS) was born. Now 30 years later, many others are scrambling to catch up as customers have fully embraced this approach.
While IMS has its roots in the metals industry, it has grown into a full-service process automation solution provider with demonstrated excellence in system design, safety design, manufacturing, installation, field services, and commissioning. We are more than just a software development house and equipment integrator. Our team is comprised of people who understand manufacturing processes and apply first principle math and physics fundamentals to engineer and implement control applications in many industries.
