December 2019 – IMS secures an opportunity to provide new controls and automation to add a skin pass mill to an existing galvanizing line located in the greater Pittsburgh area. The project involves the supply of the new equipment and relies on IMS’ ability to interface the new equipment with the legacy control system in place today. The project team primarily consists of our Pittsburgh based engineering staff.
January 2020 – The IMS Pittsburgh team commissioned a successful drive upgrade of an existing 5-stand tandem cold mill located in the greater Pittsburgh area. This effort featured IMS’ know how in bridging old and new equipment in order to address specific areas of a control system, while minimizing customer impact. The project involved DC drives that ranged from 40 to 9000 HP.
January 2020 – IMS was awarded a contract to provide the controls and automation for two new process lines located in eastern Pennsylvania. The project involves PLC based control, remote I/O cabinets, AC drives, and operator desks with HMI interfaces. This project is being led by the IMS Pittsburgh engineering team.
June 2020 – SDI The Techs has awarded IMS a contract to upgrade the electrical controls for the Metaltech Hot-Dip Galvanizing Process Line, the Tech’s flagship facility. The scope will include new operator stations, PLC based controls, remote I/O, AC drive systems, and motor control centers. The work will be executed while minimizing the impact to existing operations. The project team will mainly be comprised of IMS’ Pittsburgh based staff.
